Every tradition names the same ideas differently — that's why The Skills Fest makes terminology configurable. Here's the translation table.
Youth-organization events share one anatomy: units bring participants, participants register for award classes placed in rooms and timeslots, capacity and waitlists control enrollment, and check-in plus attendance close the loop. A teachable unit a participant registers for and can complete at an event — the thing your schedule is made of.
The small group participants belong to, with its own leader who manages only its members.
A participant’s stage or rank, used to keep classes age- and skill-appropriate via minimum-level rules.
One block of the event’s clock. The schedule is a grid of rooms by timeslots, and each class instance occupies one cell.
A schedule pattern where groups move between rooms or stations each timeslot — the standard shape of skills fairs, VBS weeks, and camp days.
The maximum enrollment of a class: the smaller of the room’s capacity and the teacher’s limit, enforced at registration.
When a full class loses a participant, the next waitlisted person is enrolled automatically and in order — no manual reshuffling, no queue-jumping.
A code a unit leader shares with families so participants can self-register with a username and password — no email address required.
The number assigned to each participant for event-day arrival: volunteers mark people in against it and watch live counts.
A multi-unit outdoor event where visiting units rotate through program areas — typically organized as areas-as-rooms and rotation periods-as-timeslots.
A tradition’s progression system. At events it shows up as completions: finishing an award class is recorded and exportable to your records tool.
